Church Committees

Christian Education

  • Robert Bell, Chair
  • Plans, supervises, and coordinates the entire educational program of the church with specific oversight of the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Presbyterian Youth Connection (PYC), Confirmation program, Kids Klub, Playful Beginnings pre-school, study groups, and other educational activities sponsored by the church and its organizations; recruits and trains teachers and leaders; reviews and recommends resources used for christian education programs.

Church Staff

  • Michael Zang, Chair
  • Prepares and updates position descriptions for  all employees in consultation with the staff member, chairperson(s) of related committee(s), and pastors; reviews job performances annually; recommends changes in salary, working conditions, and policy; provides support and guidance for the pastor as head of staff; available to all staff members to enhance their working relationships; and surveys need for additonal staff positions.

Fellowship

  • Karen Vandrew, Chair
  • Provides programs to deepen the relationship of church members with their Lord and with each other; encourages participation of existing members; and serves as a link to session for the Prayer Chain.

Finance

  • Richard Heeter, Chair
  • Guides the church's stewardship program to raise funds for the general operating budget, Capital campaigns, and local and general mission; educates the congregation in giving; prepares the annual budget for approval; oversees the Memorial Scholarship and Memorial Gifts funds; provides for an annual audit and monthly financial reports; makes recommendations for the investment of funds and purchasing procedures; provides for insurance coverage; and shares responsibility with the Church Staff Committee and Head of Staff for the hiring and supervison of the church treasurer.

Mission

  • Sharon Strauch, Chair
  • Leads the congregation in seeking to fulfill its commitment to serve the Lord through participation and/or financial support of mission work conducted locally, nationally, and globally; identifies areas of need for mission support and organizations addressing those needs; seeks to develop relationships with selected organizations to actively support their work; and provides communication to the congregation about mission needs and efforts to encourage their prayerful, financial, and participatory support of mission programs.

Nominating

  • Robert Bell, Chair
  • Provides for an orderly and consistent transition of Church Officers as defined in the Book of Order; receives nominations from the congregation and from within the committee for candidates for the offices of elder and deacon to replace those who are completing their term or who are unable to continue their service; presents the slate of officers to the congregation for approval; and recommends nominess for other committess as directed by session and the congregation.

Peacemaking and Justice

  • Mary Polson, Chair
  • Evaluates and recommends appropriate action to session on peacemaking and justice issues; provides educational programs for the congregation regarding peacemaking and justice; develops strategies and activities related to peacemaking and justice along with pro-active sponsorship of Bread for the World Covenant, and commitment to peacemaking in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Property and Maintenance

  • Ranny Singiser, Chair
  • Maintains church grounds and buildings; establishes guidelines for the use of the church facilities; undertakes improvement and repair projects through oversight of vendors or the use of volunteers; and shares responsibility with the Church Staff Committee and Head of Staff for the hiring and supervision of the custodian(s).

Spiritual Life and Stewardship

  • Jack Hulse, Chair
  • This committee was created in the beginning of 2010 and is in the organizational phase.

Technology

  • Frank Ulrich, Chair
  • Oversees the church's computer system, website, office equipment, and telephone system.

Welcoming

  • Renee Breen, Chair
  • Develops and implements ways to welcome visitors and to actively integrate new members into the life of the congregation; works with other groups to remove barriers that might keep people from being part of our church; and educates the congregation as to the responsiblity of each member to share faith and welcome others into the church.

Worship and Music

  • David Braden, Chair
  • Oversees the worship services and musical programs, with specific concern for development and ordering of worship and communions services and other worship services; supervises choirs and all musical programs; provides for the decoration of the church for special seasons; maintains all equipment and resources used for worship; and shares responsibility with the Church Staff Committee and Head of Staff for the hiring and supervision of the Director of Music and the Assistant Director of Music.
