From Reverend Mark Allio:

To the Members and Friends of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church,

The time has come to announce that my ministry with MPC is coming to an end. I have accepted a new call as Pastor at Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg, PA, part of the Beaver Butler Presbytery. My last Sunday with you all will be June 6th.

Thank you. Thank you all for being such a blessing to my family. We came here almost ten years ago as a family of three with an almost two-year old and you have watched us grow to a family of six. You welcomed and loved us from the start. And I only hope that we’ve been able to bless you all a fraction of how you blessed us.

It has been an absolute joy and blessing to learn, grow, work with, and minister along side with Rev. Kathryn Z. Johnston. She is a wonderful mentor and friend and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Kathryn and MPC in the years to come.

I also am forever grateful to Cathay Snyder, who has helped with our youth ministry for years before me and helped guide me through the ups and downs of youth ministry. She made it easy to step into the position as well as a go to for any help (and I needed a lot of it).

Along with Kathryn and Cathay, working as team with Mark McKeever has been amazing. The willingness to brainstorm and bear various burdens has created the most remarkable ministry team that I’ve ever had the honor of serving and I know how rare this truly is.

As the ministry and work of MPC continues into the future, I commend you on the work done. There have been so many changes over the past ten years and I feel that you are all on the cusp of something great and amazing. Continue to work for the kingdom of God, discerning God’s will for the church and the community of the greater Mechanicsburg area.

Know that you are loved and that you will be missed.

I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you… - Philippians 1:3-4

May the Peace of Christ be with you,
Rev. Mark Allio

Beloved Children of God,

At the Session meeting on March 22, 2021, the Reverend Mark Allio announced that he has accepted the Call to be the Pastor of Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg, PA (Butler County). The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for Sunday, April 11th following outdoor worship at 1:30pm in the church parking lot (weather permitting) to formally dissolve the Terms of Call between Pastor Mark and MPC.

Mark’s last Sunday with MPC will be June 6, 2021. Between now and then there will be more details on specific celebrations, but in the meantime, please reach out to Mark and Carrie and let them know how much you have appreciated their time here and his ministry with us.

Mark, Carrie, and Asher arrived in Mechanicsburg in the fall of 2011. Since then we have been blessed to get to know Gage, Hank, and Matthias as well. Mark has grown his ministry from the niche of youth & young adults, to also include intergenerational, theological conversations, educational opportunities, pastoral care, worship leadership, and of course, he has been our technical wizard behind the beautiful worship services we have been able to create during this time of pandemic.

As for our next steps, we will be working closely with the Presbytery of Carlisle as we discern what is next for the Associate Pastor role here at MPC.

Please keep the Allio family in your prayers during this exciting and bittersweet time of transition.

Peace be with you,

 The Reverend Kathryn Z. Johnston
Senior Pastor/Head of Staff
