MPC Wants You

A new calendar is available to sponsor chancel flowers for 2012. It is located on a bulletin board in the breezeway. To sponsor a vase, enter your name on the date of your choice. Cost is $15 per vase. Prior to your Sunday, you will receive a reminder in the mail with information regarding the wording for the bulletin and reclaiming the flowers. If you wish to reserve a specific date each year as a "standing order" for an annual commemoration, please call Pat Schaal at 766-0190 with the requested date.

MPC Elders or Deacons (current or former) who would like to continue to serve Communion can sign up in the church office (csutton@mechpresby.org) or by contacting David Braden (731-1347 or dabbersab@verizon.net). There are two opportunities for serving as follows:

• First Alternate - This is if you are usually in attendance and are willing to substitute on "any given Sunday." You will most likely be called sometime during the week before the Sunday you are needed.
• Alternate - This is if you are willing to serve Communion on a very limited basis. You will only be called if there is a substitute needed and none of the first alternates are available.

When signing up, please include your phone number and whether you are interested in being a First Alternate (FA) or an Alternate (A).

The Welcoming Committee introduced you to the Tele- Friend program in the November Cornerstone. We want to confirm that members of our congregation from single person households are safe. To do this we will pair participants up with the intent that they will make daily contact with each other. It's not intended to be an extended social contact, unless that is what the two of you decide. You will also determine what to do if contact cannot be made. This is your opportunity to participate in the program by calling Kathie Carmines (458-5714) or filling out the registration form below and putting in the offering plate or Kathie's mailbox outside the office.

One of the attributes of the Presbyterian denomination is that we are a connectional church. Our Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly connections provide us resources and support as well as avenues to help others in times of need. Every member is assessed a per capita of $22.50 that goes towards these areas of ministry and mission. We appreciate it when our members contribute toward their per capita so that it doesn't come out of the operating budget. Thank you.
