Liberating God,

We pray for the soldiers involved in global conflicts. We understand that there are complicated reasons why one may pick up a weapon and join a battle, some do so willingly, while others are forced onto battlefields, and we pray for them all.

Direct the hearts of all soldiers toward compassion, grace, justice, and mercy. Encourage their commanders and superior officers to seek understanding, dialogue, and solutions that promote peace and preserve life.

We pray for, and long for, the day when swords are beaten into plows and spears into pruning hooks. We pray for the day when the soldiers of all nations can set down their weapons of war and never pick them up again.

We pray for peace.
