Compassionate God,

We pray for the relatives of all who are threatened in the warring places of this world. We pray for parents whose children have been sent to fight or taken by fighters. We pray for people who worry about the survival of their dear elders. We pray for the young who have known only conflict, division, and violence.
We join with all who are far from the scenes of battle who fear they will lose beloved grandchildren, cousins, or friends so close they feel like family. We empathize with their helplessness and their anger.

Where there is so much tearing apart and breaking down and blowing up, give the relatives of those impacted by war a handhold to grasp, a hope for the future, and the embrace of caring community.

We pray for peace.
