Eternal God,
As we close this Day of Prayer and Fasting for a Worldwide
Ceasefire, we give thanks for your presence with all. May our own hearts and
minds never be far from you and your call to justice and peace.
We are mindful, O God, that prayer and fasting are not mere
rituals, but are tangible expressions of our confidence in you and hopeful
anticipation of the coming of your future kin-dom. As we return to our every
day, may we continue to hear the needs of the world, the cries of the
vulnerable, and the quiet whispers of those who yearn for safety, comfort, and
peace.
Empower us to love courageously and to pray without ceasing
for a worldwide ceasefire and an end to all war.
We pray for peace.
