How do I become a member?
-
Through the fellowship of other believers we grow in our faith and become true disciples. If you have visited Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church and worshipped with us, whether for a short time or for months or years, and if you feel at home here, we encourage you to become a member. Some of our members are new believers and some are life-long Presbyterians. Many come from different protestant denominations and from other faiths. All are brought together in Christ through fellowship, study, and service.
-
Membership at MPC begins with attending the "
Inquirers Classes". The purpose of "Inquirers' Classes" is to help people deepen their understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and how following Jesus is expressed through membership in the Presbyterian Church.
- Please speak with one of the pastors or call the office (697-0351) if you are interested in finding out about church membership.
What is the Barnabas Ministry?
- Barnabas first appears in Acts 4:36 as a Levite named Joseph from Cyprus. He became a very active and well respected member of the early Christian community in Jerusalem. The apostles named him "Barnabas", which means "Son of encouragement". His next appearance in Acts (9:27) tells of him boldly introducing the former persecutor of Christians, Saul of Tarsus (Paul), to the apostles as a brother in the Lord.
-
The Barnabas Ministry was established to give new members a contact person who would introduce them to others and encourage them to get involved by keeping them informed of programs, activities, and groups of our church that might interest them. It is not our intent to put pressure on the new member(s) but to make them aware of what is available at MPC.
